“Scent can really affect the feeling you have when you enter a home or a room,” Blakeney shared with Real Simple. “Lavender is a classic, timeless scent known for its calming properties. I imagine it will remain a staple scent in households that are looking for ways to invite more peaceful vibes, especially in bedrooms. Earthy scents like myrrh, frankincense, and sandalwood are great for the winter because they are grounding and promote balance.”
Embrace wood elements
Wood accents and finishes have a way of providing a natural warming impact on your living space as if you’re nestled in a comfortable cabin during a snowstorm. Now’s a great time to consider incorporating exposed beams and other interior architectural features into your design scheme. If you want to take an easier route to embrace this idea, consider a rustic coffee table, or picture frames made of reclaimed wood that you can hang throughout the home.
